Block PantryLevittown, NY, 2011
Block Pantry was a temporary installation in the Open House group show curated by Droog Design and Diller Scofidio + Renfro. Our design imagined a collective cupboard that would enable residents to trade goods for services. Those who would rather not cook could drop off fresh groceries in exchange for hot meals prepared for others, such as retired Levittowners. As the pantry slides from one dwelling to another, neighborhood boundaries can adapt to match contemporary domestic arrangements not imagined by Levittown’s original designers.
