Pinterest Headquarters
San Francisco 2012-13
This project called for the renovation of a 45,000 sf warehouse for a company that grew from 12 to 150 people during the design and construction process. We designed the office as a laboratory for collaboration, with an open framework for Pinterest workers to take part in the creation of company culture. Here, big sculptural volumes (or ‘houses’) created varied conditions within an otherwise open office. Within them, a series of monumental tables would require that people invent new ways to organize a meeting, or occupy a “war room.” Even the most democratic, circular table, in inverse, would become a focused space for engineers on a deadline.
